Announcement: Shawn Pryor steps down as Manager-of-Operations/Publisher of PKD Media, accepts role with Action Lab Entertainment.

Monday, October 25th, 2010

Shawn Pryor, founder of PKD Media has stepped down as Manager-of-Operations/Publisher of PKD Media today, accepting the role of President for the newly formed comic book/multimedia company, Action Lab Entertainment.

Action Lab Entertainment, plans to release between four to seven comic book titles or original graphic novels between the direct, digital and online vendor markets in 2011. They also plan to pitch comic book created material and other original material for animated and live-action entertainment to networks and animation production houses.

“It was a difficult decision to make, especially after all of the hard work that I, along with every involved has made to create the comics that we have in the short period of time that PKD Media has been up and running,” said Shawn. “The opportunity to work with Action Lab Entertainment was simply an offer I couldn’t refuse so I had to take it. They have the same passion & work ethic for comic books and entertainment as I do, so when I was offered the position of President I agreed to take it on.”

So, what does that mean for the future of PKD Media? Are they closing down shop? What happens next? Shawn explained further that “by stepping down as Manager-of-Operations/Publisher, that doesn’t mean that PKD Media is dead. I just can’t run two media companies at the same time as well as have a full-time job. I’ll still have time to do The PKD Black Box podcast, and I will be serving in an editiorial assistant role for the PKD Media Comics division to make things easier for the new Manager-of-Operations and Publisher of PKD Media, which will be named at a later date.”

“PKD Media will still be around. Mercury & The Murd will still be around. A “exclusive” Agents of C.O.L.T. comic is in the works, as well as some new webcomics as well. We’re still releasing printed and digital comics next year as well as other items. PKD Media will never die.”

Shawn’s first assignment as President of Action Lab Entertainment is to spearhead their “Kickstarter” fundraiser for the newly formed media company, which launches November 1st. For more information about Action Lab Entertainment go to http://actionlabcomics.com.
